Bio:

David, our Photographer extraordinaire, was born and raised in Auckland, New Zealand.  His journey to the creative department at Spareparts started in the South Island of New Zealand, hanging out of helicopters and photographing land for real estate. This progressed to photographing multi-million dollar homes and then shooting fun and daring snowboard photography. He has photographed gold medalist Kelly Clark, as well as travelled to South Korea to shoot a snowboard company called Signal Snowboards.  A great dude who has now made his home in Saskatoon to start a family, and hang out with us at Spareparts. We are lucky to have him.

And what you are seeing is just one style of Bag, the "James" bag, available at Spareparts for the holiday season.Enjoy the video, friends! Farmfresh Bag Production Teaser I'd... [Keep Reading]

Hello from the Farmfresh Production Line!

Day 4: CORE VALUES

Much of my time here has been to oversee that the details we spec'd in the sample stage of Farmfresh are present during production. What has fascinated me is the 'construction details' (the bits you don't see); we really don't have a say in how they look or function during sampling phase but rather we leave the sample team to build our bags with the core structure as strong, durable and functional as they can be.Just like our Acetate sunglasse: If you took a knife to them and... Hello from the Farmfresh Production Line!

Hey readers!I have a very exciting week ahead with new samples for Fall 2013 being built, as well as the highly anticipated arrival of the Farmfresh Bag line coming this holiday! With that said, the atmosphere here is busy-busy, and there is a lot to take in. Friendly faces are present everywhere and old relationships renewed - I missed it here.I find myself once again flawed at the commitment and the craftsmanship behind these bags. If you are thinking it's all sweatshop workers and crappy... [Keep Reading]

Farmfresh Leather Goods

Recent trip to oversee sampling.

I recently traveled to visit the factory that is manufacturing our Farmfresh Leather and canvas goods line. The intention of my trip was to oversee the building of samples that we had designed previous, inspect the quality and build relationship with our manufacturer. I was sure to learn a lot being that this manufacturer is a 4th generation family business that started in 1917 with a lifetime of knowledge and expertise.Being a designer I love tangible things and especially in product design... Fuddruckers

Words By : David RecordonBeing a kiwi (from the land down under, no not Australia but New Zealand I get a lot of flack in head office. The fact that our rugby team beat the canadians doesn’t seem to matter to the spareparts crew but apparently being canadian does! And this weeks OTC was more of a ‘I dare you OTC.’I was taken to the popular Fuddruckers on Saskatoon’s busy 8th street where the challenge was given……. David I dare you to eat a 1 pound burger... [Keep Reading]

The Rook & Raven

Words By : David RecordonThis week my wife was away at the lake which gave me the chance to grab a buddy and head down to the new Rook and Raven in downtown Saskatoon and have some good old guy time in a nice new pub type restaurant and shoot the $h!t so to speak. We sat down at a booth and ‘ohhhhh’, first thing to take note of was the extremely comfy laid back seating, we could settle in for the night no problem! Our waitress came and gave the specials. We ordered 2 pints of... [Keep Reading]

If the world’s economic crises are bringing you down, Las Palapas might be just the bail-out you need. This spicy South American restaurant on Victoria Avenue near Saskatoon’s trendy Broadway Avenue provides a host of Latin influenced food and beverage that won’t break your wallet. The staff are courteous, the service quick, and the atmosphere will help you forget you are in the middle of the chilly prairies.
