We are days away from my most favourite holiday of the entire year, Christmas! Many of you, like me, are spending some extra time in the kitchen baking some delicious goodies to share with friends, co-workers or family members. Or maybe you have some Christmas parties and gatherings to go to and don't want to show up empty handed.
I am going to share with you one of my families most prized sugar cookie recipes. (So when you write this out on your recipe cards, make sure you title it ‘Chandra’s Best Ever Sugar Cookies’ !!!) Prep time for these babes take 10 minutes, flat. Bake time is 6 -7 minutes. They are so simple and so ridiculously delicious.
I suggest that you put on 'The Andy Williams Christmas Album' OR 'Bing Crosby – Christmas with Bing Crosby' to set the mood.
1 Cup Butter
1 ½ Cup Sugar
1 tsp Vanilla
3 Cups Flour
2 tsp Baking Powder
¼ tsp Salt
Cream butter and sugar together well. Beat in eggs one at a time. Add Vanilla. Mix in flour, baking powder and salt (in a separate ‘dry’ bowl, then add to wet mixture) Roll out dough to the thickness of a pie crust on a lightly floured surface or pastry cloth. Cut and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Leave plain, or add sprinkles if desired. Makes 3 – 4 Doz.
Bake 350 degrees for 6 -7 minutes
- Personal tip, make sure your cookies are not to thin, you want them to be thick. Also DO NOT over cook. You want the bottoms to stay the same colour as the dough (not brown). They taste best when they are super soft. You do not need to use convection oven.
- You can add icing to your cookies as well.
1 ½ Cup Icing Sugar
3 Tbsp Buttler
½ Tsp Vanilla
5 Tsp Water
Food Coloring of choice.
MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone! Be merry and reflect the true reason for this holiday season!
