We Made It In America

Sweet baby Jesus!

Sat, 06/16/2012

Ok ok, so I miiiighhhttt be getting at this a tad late.... but. This just needs to be shared. Quite honestly it just needs to get out of my system. So if no one reads this article, and it ends up getting lost into the abyss that we all know as the world wide web, so be it. It would be worth it to me.

Today, I am talking about a certain print. A certain print, that is almost controversial to love in the manner in that which I do when I live in this wonderful country of Canada. BUT! It's become an obsession that cannot be stopped. Truthfully, it started a long time ago, as in quiiitteee a long time ago. I feel like the rise of it's popularity has given me the confidence to 'come out with it' so to speak. To be able to wear it with a certain pride, to boast it in an unashamed manner... annnnnnd yes, if you haven't figured it out by now, I'm talking about a print, that is so well known, it's even on a flag. Ha! It's main proprieties are: red and white stripes, a dash of blue, and 50 stars. Yes, that's the one, the United States of America's Flag.

The flag's print has always been known to circulate amongst fashions biggest trends throughout the years. I think it's the most stunning, not to mention visually striking flag, as far as capability to transform into a wearable manner. Wait. I almost feel the need to pause and tell you how much I love Canada.... however this is a fashion blog, so you'll just have to trust your gut for me on that one. Moving on. I couldn't be happier that the print of the flag has once again rolled around to the forefront of every day fashion. Something about the very patriotism of the American flag sparks my inspiration and creativity levels. I'll give it to America, that is something they have done right. They know how to be patriotic, and somehow manage to get other's involved. (example A.) me!)

So here are a few of my newest favorite looks in regards to the flag's beautiful print. Just in time to get you psyched up for the 4th of July. Just kidding. But seriously. (I'll maybe just plug how excited I am for Jazz Fest and Canada Day, and the Quest Love after party here.....) But really, let your eyes feast on these beauties!

So there you have it: the inside blue and red guts of my brain spilled out for all to see! Now I'm sure most of you weren't wondering, but for those of you who were just aching deep inside your bellies, and sitting on the edge of your seat wondering how I possibly got creative with this idea? Well, you're in luck.

I infact attempted a DIY of nail art. The idea seemed brilliant at the time, but hours later, I wasn't too sure if I'd ever attempt it again. However, here is the final result of my free hand, yes, free hand (even with my LEFT hand) result:

Might I just add, that if you're looking for a fast way to rock this look locally, head down to (of all places) American Apparel. (I know, I would have thought Roots at first as well, but stores and names, and brands and marketing are tricky that way) They have a few great items that are right on trend, and will have you feeling like 50 shining stars! Alas, the only thing to say now to give this article justice is to say this: God bless the United Sates of America!
