When September rolled around and we were treated to a plethora of new releases, Dan Nicholls aptly described the new album from The xx as "A little slower and quieter but that’s just fine" and I couldn't agree with him more. The sounds that come from the new collection are emotional and perfectly suited for this time of year, which is something I am always a fan of. Seasonal music is something that I think everyone should get into, because rather than try and fight what Mother Nature is throwing at us sometimes it is nice to just give in and let her have her way.
A nice segway into the cold weather seasons is the newest visual offering from the aforementioned album, which by the way is called "Coexist". The title of the song is called "Chained" and the visuals I am speaking of are much like the album in that they are slower, quieter and darker; perfect for this time of year.
What we are presented with is something that will likely make you want to stay in bed, or take to Facebook and complain about the weather, which in my books are again something that should be enjoyed from time to time. So my advice to you, on this, the second day of the work week would be this: Get yourself some neutral-colored clothing and a latte, then sit at your desk for the rest of what will seem like the longest day ever and blast this song.
You can thank me later as I am positive it will help you deal with the feelings of complete disdain you have for this time of year. Enjoy the new song by the way!
