Music for summertime that I've been diggin
Wed, 07/11/2012
I have been busy, friends. I have been neglecting my music and that's why I felt thin and worn out. It's funny, now that I've had a few minutes to do some soul searching (aka soul music searching), I feel like a new man again. Good! Because there is lots of summer left to enjoy and Imma make the most of it! Here's my soundtrack:
JOSH JAKQ · See You Later
This track is relaxing and beautiful which makes it a nice place to start. Ps. The photo up top corresponds with this Josh Jakq tune.
XV - Awesome
This is not the only XV song that's awesome. Chromemusic.de (an obvious favourite music blog of mine) has been pushing these guys lately. And it's all this fun.

“What you won’t do for Love” – Jessie Ware, Nas, Grover Washington / YUM YUM version
Another fun track that is VERY summer.
Beatconductor - Sumthin' Betta
Beat Conductor - Sumthin' Betta
Here is something with more of a classic feel. Real funk that will get you groovin on a hot day.
Danny Brown - Grown Up
Layed down over those ever-so-trusty "Imagine" and "Can I Kick It?' chords, Danny Brown explains how he's just a bigger, better child now. Love the careless summer vibe, and the toungue-in-cheek vibe of this song. Nuttin' but fun.
Beirut - Rip Tide
Beirut twice proved themselves as my favourite act at a festival this summer. They are just a beautiful and unique band, and this video is one of the best I've ever laid eyes on.
The Bamboos - I Got Burned feat Tim Rogers
The Bamboos - I Got Burned
Funky stuff out of Melbourne, AUS. They caught my attention with their funky version of (what most people consider to be) James Blake's song, "The Wilhelm Scream."
Here's another story. "The Wilhelm Scream" is actually a recycled melody from a James Litherland track that James Blake's dad produced. This song by the Bamboos I have posted is entirely unrelated to James Blake though, and is just my favourite of theirs.m
Frank Ocean - Bad Religion (Live on Jimmy Fallon)
Frank Ocean dropped some big news recently, and dropped a big album yesterday. Here's his debut TV performance on Jimmy Fallon.
Jesse Boykins III - Before The Night Is Thru [Official Music Video]
Jesse Boykins III - Before The Night Is Through
This list has taken a definite RnB course, and I'm oh so fine with it if I get to listen to Jesse Boykins III. It's creative, it's smooth, and it's style - sonically.
Weldon Irvine - Morning Sunrise
Weldon Irvine - Morning Sunrise
I'll set you down easy with a soul tune. Albeit this one is about the morning, and is (trust me) a good way to start your day, I've yet to find a time when it doesn't feel right.
Enjoy your summer, friends.
