When I was 18, I can honestly say I was not good at anything...
And with that flaccid history of ineptitude comes a great appreciation for true young talent. Enter 18 year old electronic pop savant, Madeon.
Hailing from Nates, France, you could argue that Madeon’s already made it. His latest track “Finale” released late July, was featured in Jay-Z life and times blog and has garnered a lot of buzz. He exploded into international fame through his Youtube 39-track live mashup Pop Culture - now with over 13 million hits - where he zips his way around his Novation Launchpad like a wizard. He has since launched his independent label, popcultur, on Beatport.
With Coachella, Electric Daisy Carnival and Ultra Music Fesitval behind him, it’ll be interesting to see how much bigger he can actually get - all without releasing an EP yet.
Personally, I think the best Madeon track yet is Icarus. Laden with his signature pitchbent licks and bright pop-synth, its positivity, packed into a tight three-and-a-half minute head-bobber.
Check out his latest teaser for his next track, “The City”, releasing within the next month:
