This weekend, Regina plays host to one of the most exciting music festivals in Western Canada, one that celebrates the music of Western Canada! Starting around noon on Friday, every venue in the city will come alive with the area's finest bands. All artists have been chosen from the 6 western regions, and have passed through a competitive and transparent jury process. These artists all have a chance to perform at two different genre specific festival events throughout the weekend infront of national and international industry professionals. With the purchase of a Breaking Out West pass for only $20, you will be able to attend any of the over 50 shows throughout the weekend!
The celebration culminates on Sunday evening with the Western Canadian Music Awards, at which Western Canada's favourite musicians will be crowned for the following categories.
BLUES RECORDING OF THE YEAR, CHILDREN’S RECORDING OF THE YEAR, COUNTRY RECORDING OF THE YEAR, INSTRUMENTAL RECORDING OF THE YEAR, JAZZ RECORDING OF THE YEAR, POP RECORDING OF THE YEAR, URBAN RECORDING OF THE YEAR, RAP/HIP-HOP RECORDING OF THE YEAR, ROCK RECORDING OF THE YEAR, ROOTS RECORDING OF THE YEAR – DUO/GROUP, ROOTS RECORDING OF THE YEAR – SOLO, WORLD RECORDING OF THE YEAR, ABORIGINAL RECORDING OF THE YEAR, FRANCOPHONE RECORDING OF THE YEAR, INDEPENDENT ALBUM OF THE YEAR, SONGWRITER(S) OF THE YEAR, CONTEMPORARY CHRISTIAN/GOSPEL RECORDING OF THE YEAR, CLASSICAL COMPOSITION OF THE YEAR, CLASSICAL RECORDING OF THE YEAR.
