The name Tony Alva is one that will go down in the history of action sports for a lot of reasons, from the iconic team that launched him to stardom, to the brand he created that took the world by storm, and also the stories he has to tell from a lifetime of being on the road and traveling the world as a professional boardrider. In a new series from Vans creative outlet "Off The Wall TV" we seen the one-of-a-kind Alva in a rather relaxed setting telling what he would call a "Classic Tale".
The story takes place alongside his longtime friend and Zephyr Skate Teammate Wenzel Rummel when the two were on a trip to Hawaii, where Tony spent an amazing amount of time back in the day, and still does for the most part. While living in the lap of luxury with playboy friend and surf enthusiast Bunker Spreckles there wasn't much that Tony didn't have access to. So in their down-time, which was often the group had to look for ways to fill time and keep themselves occupied and out of trouble.
One of the brilliant schemes that Rummel and Alva had one day was to make the island they were staying on, which happened to be inhabited by many, many large frog/toad things a little more comfortable. What they planned was to enjoy a little friendly competition by attempting the toss the frogs from a balcony into a pool that waited below. The frogs had little say in this event taking place and a large group of them met an untimely end as a result. What followed was less than comfortable for the California kids, and I will leave the details to the man himself to finish out the Classic Tale of The Frog Toss.
