YYC Taste The Trucks II

August 11th marked the 1 year anniversary of the The Food Truck Pilot Project here in Calgary! Last year was the first that Calgary had seen the new "food truck trend". Highly popular in other major cities, it's no doubt people love the trucks! Like the hot dog stand, every truck is unique in what they are doing, making, and specializing in one or two food groups. Unlike the hot dog stand, the thought and creativeness is what makes this street food gourmet! Since the first few food trucks in Calgary started operating, they have paved the way for new trucks to help grow the food truck community!

This past weekend YYC Food Trucks celebrated "YYC Taste The Trucks II" by throwing a block party in The East Village (a very popular spot for block parties)! With at least 30 trucks in attendance, and going from 11am to 6pm it was an opportunity to experience the fine foods from the fabulous trucks that Calgary has to offer! If you missed out, don't worry, follow any of the trucks on twitter and you can track them day to day. Or you can get the fancy Eat St, App!

Food truck sampling is the best! Luckily, I had my sister there to share everything, that way we could try more. We tried the pork tacos from Los Compadres, and a grilled cheese from Cheezy Bizness. The only downside was the crazy lines, so we sadly missed out on The Perogy Boyz, Fries and Dolls, and The Naaco Truck. I guess I'll just have to track them down around the city now!
