Thanksgiving!!!

Pumpkin Time

Mon, 10/08/2012

I love Thanksgiving! Its one of my favorite holidays, from the colors outside to the food on our plates.  Up until this year, I typically enjoy wine with the holiday feast, but I think I'll be making up some of these this weekend.

Here are a few local holiday cocktail inspirations from a few friends around the city.

Lee Peppinck @LPeppinck @LivingRoomYYC @CPBAbarAB

Bourbon, Calvados, Amaro, fresh apple with a pinch of clove, orange zest, & cinnamon

This blend of ingredients sounds fantastic. Just had it flash by me on twitter, very cool Lee. You'll have to check out The Living Room on 17th Ave to see how this one is whipped up.

Christina Mah @bambin0o @NotableCalgary

Spiced Apple Soda, Cranberry Vodka, Fresh Lemon, & a dash of Elderflower Liqueur

Christina is absolutely amazing at what she does! I'll definitely make a trip to Notable Restaurant to try this one!

Check out another cool TG cocktail idea, this one from Chatelaine Magazine

  • 4 cup pressed apple cider
  • 2 cup pumpkin purée
  • 1 tsp pumpkin-pie spice
  • 1/2 cup spiced dark rum
  • 1/2 cup 35% cream, whipped (optional)

  1. Whisk apple cider, pumpkin purée and pumpkin-pie spice in a large saucepan on high. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium-low. Simmer, stirring occasionally, for 10 min. Strain into a large bowl. Discard purée.
  2. Stir rum into pumpkin mixture. Divide among 4 mugs and garnish with dollops of whipped cream. Sprinkle with more pumpkin-pie spice if desired.

Please Drink Responsibly

Happy TG!
