Stay Classy....

Sat, 07/07/2012

Every Thursday I am constantly checking Westjets website to check in to see what their blue tag Thursday deal is ..Usually they aren’t applicable to Calgary or the travel timelines don’t seem to work until one Thursday they were offering flights to San Diego for $129!! Luckily enough the dates worked for my mom and sister as well and quickly enough we were booked in to head down to San Diego for a weekend to kick off to summer! I adore California and try to get there at least once a year to check out the scene. I love people watching,  the shopping, the food...you name it! I also love spending time on  the beach and despite the cooler water temps and crowds I love getting out for a little surfing.

We were down in San Diego for 3 days and we booked in at Tower 23, located right off the water on Pacific Beach.  It was a super cute boutique style hotel with 3 categories of rooms ; Surf, Spirit and Sky Pads. We stayed in the Surf room which had the most amazing view of the ocean, perfect for checking waves before rolling out of bed in the morning!

Amazing views and great lounging area!

We spent the first day walking up to mission beach totally in awe of some of the beautiful houses that overlook the ocean. I am totally envious of anyone who got to grow up in California.  There is so much to see and do and how lucky are they to have the option to bike down to the beach and go surfing anytime they want!!  If anyone can tell me how I can get a house like this on the beach one day I would like to know!

We really embraced the beachy California lifestyle by heading out surfing everyday and renting bikes to get around and cruise up the beach bike path. We also had a few amazing seafood dinners and our share of fish tacos at local restaurants along the beach.

And then we did some shopping....... There are some very cute stores  along the strip, below are a few window pics of one of my favorite stops- Brandy Melville. It just has a few locations in North America. The store is stacked full of nesting tables with folded tanks, crop tops, shorts all merchandized alongside with vintage bags and antique furniture.  Most of the clothing has a one size fits most mentality, meant to be layered and pieced together with the balance of your wardrobe, giving you that perfect California look.

All in all it was an amazing weekend. Can't wait to head back next year!

Stay Classy San Diego ;)
