Niels Shoe Meulman : Clean Graffiti

Mon, 03/12/2012

Niels Shoe Meulman is a dutch artist who puts a little bit of a different spin on traditional street art.  While most of the current wave of producers create their works by laying permanent ink or paint, Meulman takes a slightly cleaner approach.  Using a broom and water to create a deep and clean looking image, he creates calligraphy using abrupt stokes with a very intent purpose to each movement.

Another element that he needs to factor in is time.  Due to the fact that his medium can dry up and disappear as he continues down the piece, he must work quicly in order to have a finished product that looks complete and uniform.

Take a look at the process and the aforementioned finished product, and enjoy this interesting new way to create art.
