Michael Miller : The History Of Hip-Hop

Fri, 02/10/2012

Michael Miller is an American photographer who got his start in the industry in Paris in the mid 1980's.  He was schooled in film and television and very early on, found he had an eye for the beautiful, intricate and immensly deep.  Making the images he shoots as thought provoking as they are eye catching.  Since returning to the US in the late 80's he has found himself behind the lens for some heavy hitters including advertorial work for such heavy hitters as Vogue Magazine and album covers for Cypress Hill.

He recently released a work entitled "West Coast Hip-Hop : A History in Pictures"  which consists of 43 photos, the majority of which have never been seen by the public.  They document some of the biggest names in Hip-Hop and Rap music which heavily influenced Miller in his early years and now make up a large part of his career.

The photo series was shown at the Known Gallery in L.A. and were featured in a way that perfect captures the essence of Miller's work.  Enjoy the photos.
