With the Winter X Games European edition set to take place in Tignes, France in just a few short weeks (March 14-16) the contest known as Real Snow is in full swing. This is a unique contest seen exclusively at the X Games winter and summer events with skate being the warm weather version and the emphasis being placed on real, every day riding. The concept is simple, take the world's best riders and place them in a format that emulates what they do all the time, film banger tricks, edit them and set them to music.
The last few times this has been run at both summer and winter X it has been met with warm regards thanks to the realism that it brings to the table and the fact that athletes rarely if ever seen in contests get to showcase their skills to a mass audience.
This time around the contest takes another fresh turn, pun intended as the riders leave the urban rails and chair lifts behind in favor of a little bit of bluebird skies and pillow lines. Once again ESPN has brought together the best riders on the planet for this occasion and the resulting product is outstanding.
One of my personal favorites, as well as BURTON snowboards team rider Jussi Oksanen comes out firing with his usual collection of massive jumps, neck deep pow turns and buttery smooth take offs that leave mere mortals to wonder in astonishment at how exactly he does what he does with such ease and style.
Have a look at Jussi's offering at the top spot in Real Snow and the $50,000 that comes along with it. Then make sure to cast your vote on the X Games website.
And obviously don't forget the great lineup of Burton gear available right now at SPAREPARTS
