T- 8 DAYS!

Mon, 07/16/2012

8 days till our first match in the 2012 Olympic summer games. Not sure what else I can write about?

The thought of being an Olympian is still so surreal and hasn't hit me yet.
I remember when I was counting down the days till the Olympics... "170 days left until the games" NOW..... 8 days!!!

Our team has been incredibly lucky in our final prep for the Olympics. We are currently in Switzerland having already played two games with a match vs Brazil tomorrow for our final tune ups. Waking up in the Alps has not only been refreshing but really has allowed us to focus on ourselves and our team to fully prepare for one of the biggest stages you can play on!

These past 6 months leading up the the games have been crazy, intense, and a whirl wind but all worth it in the end when you see your name on that final 18 roster. I'm going to finally be an Olympian, a goal I wanted to reach so badly when i was a little girl watching with my family, the only difference is that I thought it was going to be in gymnastics, little did i know 14 years later I would be repping Canada in soccer!!!

I don't know what to expect once our plane touches down in London in 2 days!! The pictures I imagine and that are going through my head are;
TONS of people roaming and supporting in the streets, Flags from all different countries hanging everywhere, athletes that I support on TV eating right beside me in the dinning hall, but most importantly one image I can't get out of my head is my family sitting in the stands watching me put on an Canadian Olympic team jersey and playing on the highest stage in front of thousands of people and doing what I love to do!

I also just wanted to say a quick thank you to everyone in Saskatchewan that has been support and pushing me since I was little!! without you I would not be where I am, you ALL know who you are!!!!

I can wait to share this experience with all of my readers, so look for quick blogs and pictures from me once I'm in the athlete village and stadiums!!!
everyone check out and support us in our first game on the 25th vs Japan
Much love Kay
