Sailing In The Abacos

Growing up I was very fortunate to grow up around water and boats.  From infancy till the age of 18, i spent almost every summer weekend on our sailboat which they harbored at the Elbow Marina on Lake Diefenbaker in Saskatchewan.  My family loves to sail, we have so many great memories from those times and when they sold our 34 ft C&C, it was a sad day for everyone. My parents keep their passion for the sport alive by renting boats around the world and sailing to new destinations... [Keep Reading]

Vans & John John Florence Present

Begin Again

It took until the second week of May, but for most of us it is finally starting to look like we are going to be able to step outside and enjoy ourselves for the remainder of a shortened spring and summer season. It doesn’t take much for this to happen, as most of us have grown somewhat accustomed to fly by night weather conditions and the realization that the date on a calendar rarely dictates what is happening in the great western Canadian outdoors. So the idea that most of us have at... [Keep Reading]

RUCKUS IN THE ROCKIES III

Monster Energy Presents the return of Ruckus in the Rockies to Lake Louise Ski Area

If you ask anyone who loves the mountains, snowboarding or skiing on a hot sunny day is probably one of the best things in life! Slushy snow, bluebird sky's, high-fives, friends and patio drinks, it does't get much better than that. As Lake Louise closed up the hill for the season, they did it in style. Bringing back Ruckus in the Rockies for a third year presented by Monster Energy drinks. The weekend consisted of a massive, or Monster, hip feature as well as a few rail features for... Long Live Southbank

It’s no secret that skateboarding is a huge part of the culture of today. Between fashion, music and art there aren’t many things that the sport doesn’t impact on a regular basis. So it seems like a bit of a strange juxtaposition when sprawling urban centres like London, San Francisco and Philadelphia just to name a few are looking to lessen the impact of the sport, rather than encourage it. What I am speaking about is the destruction of some of the world’s most iconic... [Keep Reading]

Shredtown Presents Tubular

Well, it snowed again yesterday and as a result of this I have all but given up hope that summer will actually make it’s way to Saskatchewan this year. Not that I think it won’t eventually warm up and we will experience mild conditions and slightly less ‘precipitation’ but rather that by the time that happens, things will be so wet, soggy and weathered that we won’t be allowed the traditional ‘summer’ experience. So in order to deal with this, I have... [Keep Reading]

Nyjah Huston Wins Street League

X Games Brazil

A little while back the skateboard world was rocked when Street League, which over the last several years has become the biggest contest series in the sport announced that they were collaborating with X Games to become part of a global contest tour, thus expanding to twice their original size. In another move, which came only a few weeks ago, the league, which was created by former skater Rob Dyrdek released news that they were parting ways with major sponsor DC Shoes in favor of a new deal,... Burton Girls at Baldface

A Trip of a Lifetime

Baldface is an iconic cat boarding operation located north of Nelson, B.C in the heart of the Selkirk mountains.  It is a quick 10-15 minute helicopter ride to the base lodge, which is surrounded by 32,000 acres of rideable terrain accessed only by cats. It truly the most unbelievable natural terrain that I have ever rode. It is very clear to me why it attracts so many professional filmers and riders. It is also host to Red Bull’s Ultra Natural which is an all mountain snowboard... [Keep Reading]

Ken Block In Russia

Featuring The Spy Helm

Wishful thinking has me doing my best to steer clear of winter related posts, as we are now well into the next season on the schedule which should be spring, even though it might not appear that way anywhere in this great country. Another place where spring often takes a while before it has fully sprung is Russia, and while that is good for the host city of Sochi who will be hosting the next Olympics, it is safe to say that the majority of people there are on the same page as we are when it... G-Shock Presents

G-People

When it comes to action sports Wednesdays, there are two things I have promised in recent weeks. One of them is that I wouldn’t show off so much snowboarding, especially including Regina’s Mark McMorris and the other was that I would do my best to avoid showing anything related to winter all together. So with that in mind, I went a little off the radar with this one and decided to showcase something that I have never featured before in the years I have been writing on this blog (my... Action Sports Wednesday

Enough Winter Already!

This time of year is usually all about new beginnings, fresh sights and smells and starting over after suffering through a long and strenuous winter of frostbite, covering up and basically staying inside as much as possible due to seriously inclement conditions. The start of spring in western Canada has long been known for one of the most gorgeous seasonal transitions anywhere in the world. Few other places experience the drastic differences we, and one of the most spectacular things about those... [Keep Reading]
